The Riverside FANatic

The rain threatened, but didn’t stop the racing Saturday at the PASS sanctioned Riverside Speedway.  Rain was in the forecast for the late evening so everything was done to keep things moving along.  The Outlaw race was paused and the Super Stocks brought out after four of the seven cars were involved in a wreck on the backstretch.  The Outlaw returned with much damage, but the racing was great.  Racer, Reporter Jean Leblanc did a little race directing for some of the racing, and did a good job at it.

The Daredevil Rookies started the evening out, with Nick Gilcris on point, with Brent Ming outside.  Gilcris took the lead, but Ming battled back and overtook the spot, as Lyndsay Dawson moved to 3rd.  Gilcris regained the lead on lap 9, then on lap 13 Gilcris is forced to slow to avoid a car exiting the pits, giving the lead back to Ming.  Dawson moves to 2nd, and Jerrad Ainsworth moves to 3rd.  Ming takes the win followed by Dawson and Ainsworth.

Cameron Bowen started on the pole for the Daredevil Veterans, with Keith Lord outside.  After two missed start yellow flags, Bowen took the lead.  On the first lap, Dilyn Switser bolted to the front, bringing Jesse Switser with him.  Brandon Lambert moved to the 3rd spot on lap 4.  As the Switsers battle, Lambert closes in.  On lap 13 Lambert moves to 2nd.  Dilyn Switser takes the win followed by Lambert and Jesse Switser.

The Street Stocks were up next. Brendon Hunt started on the pole with Tom Sokolis outside.  Hunt takes the lead.  Tori Delabruere and Bill Stebbins Jr. get together bringing out the yellow.  Hunt takes the restart.  Andrew Fecteau moves to 2nd on lap 2, bringing Cody Hodge with him for 3rd.  Hodge takes the 2nd spot on lap 3, and Michael Smith moves to 3rd.  On lap 5 Smith overtakes 2nd.  The yellow flies for a pileup in turns 3 and 4.  Hunt takes the restart.  On lap 9, Smith takes the lead, and Alex Theroux moves to 3rd.  The following lap Troy Randal overtakes 3rd, then 2nd.  Theroux and Hodge tangle binging out the caution on lap 13.  Smith takes the restart. On lap 15 Shawn Swallow moves to 3rd.  With only 1 lap to go, Randall takes the lead away, and the win, followed by Smith and Swallow.

Cynthia Litvin started on the pole for the Angels, with Mary Eastman outside.  Litvin took the lead, as Jen Terrill moves to 2nd, and Miranda Gervais to 3rd.  Terrill gets loose on lap 9 Vanessa Brown capitalizes taking 3rd, then 2nd.  On lap 10 Brown moves to the lead.  Gervais moves to 2nd on lap 14, and Dayna Randall overtakes 3rd.  Randall overtakes 2nd on lap 17.  On lap 23, Jennie Dion spins in turn 4, bringing out the yellow.  Brown takes the restart.  On lap 28, Randall takes the lead.  With two to go, Johanna Christman moves to 3rd.  Randall takes the win, followed by Brown and Christman.

The Outlaws were actually up next, but had a first lap wreck that would have cleared 4 of the 7 cars, so it was decided to run the Super Stocks with the Outlaws repaired their cars.  Allyn Briggs started on the pole, with Dean Switser Jr. outside.  Briggs took the lead.  Jeff Fysh moved to the 2nd spot on lap 2.  Jason Kenison moved to 3rd on lap 3. Fysh took the lead on lap 5 bringing Kenison with him for 2nd, then Kenison pits.  Jason Rogers inherits 2nd, and Denny Degreenia 3rd.  I don’t know exactly how it happened, but on lap 8 Jamie Longley got sideways, and ended up rolling on the back stretch.  Switser hit the wall, and Nathan Swallow ended up with heavy front end damage.  Longley was OK, and actually returned to the race on lap 15.  Fysh took the lead on the restart, Degreenia moved to 2nd and Luke Shannon to 3rd.  On lap 10 Jason Emerson went around on the back stretch, but got back underway and a yellow was avoided.  Swallow raced quickly back through to 3rd on lap 16, 2nd on lap 20, and took the lead on lap 22.  Swallow took the win followed by Fysh and Degreenia.

Dan Sidney sat on the pole for the Outlaws, with Doug Laleme outside.  Laleme, Reggie Theroux, David Ofsuryk, and Derek Ming were all involved in a lap 1 wreck.  After the dust settled, cars fixed, and the Super Stocks ran, Sidney took the lead.  Pete Gilcris moved to 2nd on lap 2.  On lap 3 Laleme moved to 3rd.  On lap 8 Gilcris took the lead and Ming moved to 2nd.  Gilcris got loose on lap 18, and Ming ducked under for the lead, and Laleme moved to 2nd.  Ming took the checkers followed by Laleme and Gilcris.
