Saturday, Aug 11th was double points night at the PASS sanctioned Riverside Speedway.  This had teams scrambling for a better finish to get those precious points.  The team that was the story of the night was Mike Kenison’s Late Model team.  Mike blew a motor during practice.  Floyd Bennett provided a loaner motor that was changed at the track.  The team had the car running for the feature.  Although it didn’t sound right at first, Mike managed to come home with a 6th place finish.  Not where he wanted to finish, but if he hadn’t of run at all his quest for the championship would surely have been lost.

The Daredevil Rookie’s started the evening off with the 07 of Manville Powers III starting on the pole, and the 75 of Andrew Fecteau outside.  Powers took the lead.  The 29 of Brendan Hunt spins in turn 1 on lap 3.  Fecteau takes the restart, as the 44 of Kyle Pembroke moved to the 2nd spot.  Pembroke makes the pass to take the lead on lap 4.  On lap 6, the 3 of Kristopher Russell moves to the 3rd spot.  Hunt spins again on lap 7, and the 68 of Keith Lord takes evasive action over the turn 1 & 2 banking returning through the pits.  Pembroke takes the restart.  Russell overtakes 2nd place on lap 10.  On lap 14 Hunt moves to 3rd.  At the line it is Pembroke followed by Russell and Hunt.

The Daredevil Veterans took to the field next.  The 62 of Dilyn Switser started on the pole, with the 8 of Tyler Leighton outside.  Switser takes the lead as the 12 of Brett Gervais moves to 2nd and Cody Hodge in the 72 moves to 3rd.  Hodge proceeds to overtake 2nd on lap 2 and the lead on lap 7.  On lap 10, the 5 of Jesse Switser moves to 3rd.  The Switsers get together on the final lap, but recover.  Hodge takes the win followed by Jesse Switser and Dilyn Switser.

The Street Stocks were up next, and went flag to flag with no caution.  The 1 of Mike McGee started on the pole, with the 29 of Chris Meunier on the outside.  Meunier takes the lead as the 06 of Michael Moore moves to 3rd, then 2nd.  On lap 3 the 76 of Tori Delabruere moves to third.  She overtakes 2nd on lap 8.  The 04 of Shawn Swallow overtakes 3rd on lap 9.  Delabruere takes the lead on lap 11 and Swallow moves to 2nd.  On lap 13 Mike Smith in the 22 overtakes 3rd, but only for a few laps as Meunier regains it.  On lap 17 the 27 of Troy Randall overtakes 3rd.  At the stripe it was Delabruere followed by Swallow and Randall

The Super Stocks put on a great show.  Jeff Fysh had to scratch for the night, as somehow water was put in the gas tank. The 55 of Jamie Longley started on the pole, with the 38 of Robin Hood outside.  Longley takes the lead.  The 74 of Dan Sidney gets together with Hood, sending Sidney over turn 2 down pit road entrance backwards.  I thought I might have to jump off the pit road wall with the speed he had coming in.  Longley takes the restart, and the 31 of Brian Middleton moves into 3rd, then 2nd.  Middleton took the lead on lap 12.  Hood spins on lap 16 bringing out the caution.  Middleton gets the jump on Longley.  On lap 19, the 73 of David Ofsuryk takes over 3rd.  On lap 29, the 01 of Brian Gosselin, who started last, moved into the 3rd spot.  Gosselin overtakes 2nd on lap 24.  Across the line it is Middleton, followed by Gosselin and Longley.  After post race inspection Gosselin was ¼” too low because of the skirting around the car, giving 2nd to Longley and 3rd to Ofsuryk.

It was a 75 lap main event for the Late Models.  The 42 of Brian Greer started on the pole, with the 12 of Mike Paquette outside.  Paquette takes the lead, as the 90 of Floyd Bennett moves to 3rd.  Bennett overtakes 2nd on lap 2.  Brooks Clark, in the 68, spins on lap 6.  Paquette takes the restart.  Bennett takes the lead on lap 10.  The 36 of Howard Switser takes 3rd on lap 13.   The yellow flies on lap 18 for the 69 of Donald Franklin spinning in turn 4.  Bennett takes the restart, and Switser moves to 2nd.  On lap 20, Switser takes the lead and brings the 02 of Russ Clark with him for 2nd.  Brian Mason in the 10 takes over 3rd on lap 21.  On lap 24, Clark overtakes the lead.  On lap 48, the 81 of Grant Folsom moves to the 3rd spot.  The yellow flies again on lap 70 as Brian Mason is smoking and dropping fluid.  Clark again takes the restart.  Folsom and Switser get together, but recover swapping 2nd and 3rd.  On lap 72 the 12vt of Reno Gervais rockets into the 2nd spot.  Clark takes the win followed by Gervais and Switser.

The final event of the evening was the Cyclone Enduro.  The 8 of Anthony Hill started on the pole. By lap 40, the 12 of Tyler Therrien had the lead with the 33 of Josh Lafleur chasing him down, and the 20 of Charlie Rockwell running 3rd.  At the half way mark Rockwell had gained the lead and Lafleur had overtaken 2nd.  At lap 70 they were still running in the same order.  By lap 90 the 41 of Jeff Ainsworth had moved into 3rd.   Rockwell took the checkers followed by Lafleur and Ainsworth.  Rounding out the top 5 were the 3 of Andy Simpson and the  04 of Shaun Stetson.
