If you missed Friday night at the PASS sanctioned Riverside Speedway, you missed a great night of racing. A six car pileup in the Super Stocks left two cars basically destroyed. The Daredevil Rookies, Street Stocks, and Angels went flag to flag with no cautions. The Cyclones were broken into two races: the non winners open race, and the winners super challenge race. The winner of the first race could choose to forfeit the trophy and money and race the winners super challenge race. I actually was able to keep track of the Cyclones this week, so you get their play by play also.
The Daredevil Rookies started the evening off. The 6 of Eric Charboneau started on the pole, with the 29 of Brendon Hunt outside. Hunt took the lead, as the 68 of Keith Lord Moved to third. Charboneau has something go wrong with the car, and pulls it to the infield on lap 9. Lord moves to 2nd, and the 75 of Andrew Fecteau takes 3rd. Fecteau takes 2nd away the following lap and the 93 of Cameron Bowen takes over the 3rd spot. At the flag it is Hunt followed by Fecteau and Bowen.
The Daredevil Veterans were next on the field. The 8 of Tyler Leighton started on the pole, with the 07 of Manville Powers III outside. Powers took the lead, but it wasn’t for long, The 62 of Dilyn Switser rocket to the lead on lap 2. The 3 of Kristopher Russell goes around in turn 3, with the 5 of Jesse Switser and the 44 of Kyle Pembroke also involved. I believe Pembroke hit the wall, because his car was in bad shape as it came into the pits. Dilyn Switser took the restart, as the 73 of Riley Hartshorn moved to 2nd, then the lead. On lap 5, Leighton and the 72 of Cody Hodge get together bringing out the yellow. Hartshorn takes the restart, as the 12 of Brett Gervais moved into 2nd. On lap 9, Gervais takes the lead. Switser regains 2nd on lap 15, and on lap 17 the 77 of Brandon Lambert overtakes 3rd. Gervais takes the win followed by Dilyn Switser and Lambert.
The Super Stocks were up next. Brian Gosselin started on the pole, with the 55 of Jamie Longley outside. Gosselin took the lead, and the 76 of Shawn Hood moved into 2nd. On lap 3, the 74 of Dan Sidney moved to 3rd. The big one happened on lap 6, with 6 cars involved on the backstretch. The 8 of Denny Degreenia’s car was completely destroyed. I heard a crew member say that they had a backup car they would be back with next week. The 70 of Mike Hughes car was also hauled off and probably destroyed also. Sidney and Longley were also involved with lots of removed sheet metal. Gosselin took the restart. On lap 12, the 38 of Robin Hood spins, bringing out the yellow. Gosselin again takes the lead, with the 13 of Luke Shannon moving into 3rd. Brian Middleton in the 31 has a tie rod break on lap 17 bringing out yet another caution. Gosselin takes it again and Shannon moves to 2nd, and the 03 of Jason Kenison moves into 3rd. On lap 30, the 1 of Jeremy Lacoss moves to 3rd, and Robin Hood spins again. Shannon didn’t make it easy, but Gosselin again takes the lead. On lap 34, the 17 of Jerrad Ledger goes around in turn 2. The restart again goes to Gosselin. On lap 36, the 46 of the Wildman Aaron Maynard brings out the caution. Gosselin once again takes the restart as Lacoss moves to 2nd. Gosselin takes the win, leading all 50 laps, with Lacoss in 2nd, and Shannon 3rd.
The Street Stocks took the field for a quick flag to flag 40 lap main event. The 07 of Bill Stebbins Jr. started on the pole, with the 06 of Michael Moore outside. Moore took the lead as the 95 of Alex Theroux moved to 2nd, and the 12 of Tyler Therrien moved to 3rd. On lap 11 the 22 of Mike Smith overtook 3rd. Smith then moved to 2nd on lap 37. Moore took the win, followed by Smith and Theroux.
The Cyclone open feature was up next. The 73 of Roger Hartshorn started on the pole, with the 00 of Brad Savage outside. Savage took the lead. On lap 3, the 8 of Anthony Hill moved to 2nd, then the lead. On lap 8, the 40oz of Rick Utley moved into 3rd, then on lap 20 moved to 2nd. Savage has a tire go down on lap 37, giving the 56 of Adam Smith 3rd. Hill takes the win, followed by Utley and Smith. After post race inspection, Smith is DQ’ed for camber giving 3rd to Hartshorn. Hill forfeits the money to go on to the super challenge race.
The Angels were up next. The 00 of Ciara McCoy started on the pole, with the 13 of Mary Eastman outside. Eastman takes the lead. McCoy gains the lead on lap 3, and the 7 of Kate Demar moves to 3rd. Demar overtakes 2nd on the following lap. On lap twenty something, I can’t read my own notes, the 27 of Dayna Randall moves into 3rd. On lap 29 Demar takes the lead, and the win, followed by McCoy and Randall.
The Cyclone super challenge was the final event of the evening. Open race winner Anthony Hill started on the pole, with the 9 of Ben Bedor outside his door. Hill took the lead. The 04 Shaun Stetson moved to 3rd on lap 2. On lap 15, the 16x of Dean Switser Jr. moved to 3rd, only to lose it on lap 16. On lap 20, the 20 of Charlie Rockwell moved to 3rd. Rockwell overtook 2nd on lap 25. On lap 35, the 41 of Jeff Ainsworth moved into 3rd. Hill takes the win, followed by Rockwell and Ainsworth.
